The Institute of Literary Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (University of Zagreb) has for years been the central institution for conducting scientific research in the field of literary theory and history at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (History). Apart from maintaining the Institute’s interest in interdisciplinarity and cultural studies, and domestic (Croatian and Yugoslav) and Middle European topics, the interests of the current staff are also directed towards Eastern European and especially Russian culture (Goals and Activities). The Institute of Literary Studies is presently a constituent of the Department of East Slavic Languages and Literature.

The Institute of Literary Studies edits the third series of Biblioteka L monographs in literary criticism. Different monographs, published in the first and second series, are now available online.
